Review: Eufy Baby Monitor - Spaceview

Review: Eufy Baby Monitor - Spaceview

A baby monitor is one of the first things we bought when we were pregnant. My fiancé researched for days before picking the Eufy Security Baby Monitor Spaceview and it sat patiently in the nursery awaiting our baby boy to be born. This was our first baby and having a reliable baby monitor with safety features was very important to us.

That first-time parent anxiety was REAL and buying the right monitor was crucial for my ease of mind. We've been using the Eufy Security Baby Monitor Spaceview for almost a year now and I love it, it's become a integral part of our everyday routines and it's grown with us from the newborn stage to moving him into his own room.

In fact, I'm literally watching my baby on this monitor while I'm writing this blog ;)

Stay Close From Any Room

Nice Big Screen

The screen is large and wide so it covers the entire area of the crib or sleeping area. Of course this depends on where you place the monitor in relation to the crib, but the screen is  5" and 720p which provides clear and easy to see monitoring even from across the room.

Wall Mount Included

So far we have just placed the camera on a desk or dresser nearby, but it comes with a wall mount so you can mount the camera to the wall easily to get the perfect angle for your sleep space.

Two Way Audio

Not only can you hear your baby but you can also speak to them through the monitor to the screen. This is a nice feature for when your baby wakes up feeling afraid and alone, you can provide verbal comfort while you are on your way to see them. Or once they are older and they just need a little encouragement to lay back down.

Plays Music

There is also feature to play some soothing lullabies from the camera. You can choose from a handle of options from the monitor and control the volume.

Ease of Mind

Temperature Monitoring

This was one of my favourite features, especially during the first few weeks and months with a newborn. The Eufy Baby Monitor has a temperature display so you always know what the temperature is in your baby's sleep space. This helped me with deciding how to dress them for bed and gave me great peace of mind knowing it wasn't too hot or too cold.

Wide Scan Area

The camera pans 330° so you can see corner-to-corner and tilts 110° to see floor to ceiling. Sometimes the camera get s moved or bumped during the day and when i would turn on the monitor it was facing the wall. The wide pan on the camera meant that i didn't have to go back into the nursery to adjust the camera and risk waking our baby up. This was a HUGE benefit when sleep is so fickle.

Good Battery Life

The battery life on the Eufy Baby Monitor is 15 hours, which is crucial to being able to relax enough to sleep in another room. If the battery does start to get low the alarm is loud so there is no way you'll sleep through a monitor going dead.

The camera does not have a battery, it is plug in only. This is a standard for baby monitors but I mention it because i remember being disappointed that the camera couldn't just be placed anywhere without being plugged in.

Safety Features

Zoom In on the Monitor

I can't even count the number of times I have used the zoom in feature to zoom in on his little chest to make sure he is still breathing. There is a 1x, 1.5x and 2x zoom on the monitor so you can get a closer look or stay close if they roll further away from the camera.

Alert Threshold

The Alert Threshold features is a huge ease of mind for when you are sleeping in another room. When your baby cries or makes a noise it will set of an alarm to wake you up and alert you to their cries. There are five levels of threshold which is is helpful for when you use a sound machine. I can set the threshold above the level of the sound machine level so that it doesn't alert me to the sound machine but it sets off the alarm when my baby cries.

Great Night Vision

The night vision is so clear and crisp. It's black and white but it is bright even in the darkest of rooms.

Some Negative Points

Overall we love the Eufy Spaceview Baby Monitor but one point that we don't love is that it is not a USBC charger. It has a USB Micro connection which is fine, but if it was USBC it would be compatible with more chargers around our house.

As I mentioned I though the camera would also be wireless so that I can just pop it down anywhere without plugging in, but it needs to be plugged into the wall. This is standard for most baby monitors i just wasn't aware of this and had a moment of disappointment when we first started using it.
